Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The South Carolina Department of Employment And Workforce says the number of unemployed in SC stayed at 8.1%.
In their release on Friday, September 20th, SC's D.E.W. stated that between April and August the state-wide unemployment rate has fluctuated 1 tenth of 1 percent, between 8.0 and 8.1 percent.
In August the number of unemployed people in South Carolina increased by 1,165, to a total of 175,602, just 8.1% of the state's workforce of 2,161,811 people.
Reductions in the Leisure and Hospitality industries (-3,400 jobs,) along with drops in Education and Health Service jobs (-400,) along with additional decreases, offset a modest job increase of 35,200 jobs in non-agriculture related industries.
