Gov. Nikki Haley speaks to reporters on June 24, 2013.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Gov. Nikki Haley says watching the possibility of a federal government shutdown from South Carolina is frustrating.
Haley said Monday that President Barack Obama needs to take responsibility as a leader of the executive branch and find a way to solve the impasse between congressional Republicans and Democrats.
Obama has said he is willing to talk to congressional leaders about long-term budget policy, but the threat of shutting down the government needs to be taken off the table.
Haley says the people would never allow the government to be shut down in South Carolina.
The governor says members of her Cabinet are talking to their counterparts in the federal government to prepare for any disruptions from the possible shutdown at midnight Monday.
