Sumter, SC (WLTX)- The government shutdown has impacted Military bases around the country and here in the midlands.
Officials at Shaw Air Force Base say 305 Air Force appropriated fund employees have been furloughed. Roz Ginn is one of those employees.
"Basically the notice says we will no longer need your services for an undetermined amount of time," said Ginn.
Ginn is a single mother and is concerned with how she is going to support herself and her daughter.
"I just don't know and I think that is probably the scariest part, not knowing what is going to happen," said Ginn.
Ginn called the local president of the American Federation of Government Employees to express her frustrations.
"The bottom line is they want to come to work and they want to get paid. They have bills to pay and family to support and this is total nonsense," said John Sammons, AFGE President.
Officals at Shaw call the furlough "greatly distressing" and according to the notice, the duration of the furlough isn't known but it isn't expected to last more than 30 days.
