Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Department of Social Services officials say a mother gave up her baby was placed at Lexington Medical Center under Daniel's Law.
The mother took the baby boy to the hospital Tuesday.
DSS officials say Baby Boy Doe (which is what DSS is calling him) is a healthy white child who weighed 7 pounds, 9.2 ounces and 19 inches long at birth.
Daniel's Law allows people to take newborn infants to specifically designated areas and not face prosecution, as long as the child is unharmed. LINK: Read More About Daniel's Law
The law also requires a permanency planning hearing for the child, where a person can assert their parental rights. The hearing is set for the following time:
