Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Nearly a week after a USC student was shot in Five Points, business owners and families are banding together against crime.
People gathered at the fountain in Five Points Friday night and those in attendance said they wanted to come out on a Friday night to show support of Five Points and to show that Five Points is a safe place to be.
"They go after these guys, they are caught and judges let them go. All of them have had priors every single one of them; they should not have the freedom," said Debbie McDaniel.
"We can have businesses work together to figure out how to send the thugs a message that this is not going to be tolerated, this is a family district and this will not be tolerated," said Meredith Good.
USC will host a forum next week for students to weigh in about the crime problem in Five Points.
