Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The CEO and President of New Ventures Technology is accused of defrauding the State of South Carolina of money.
Terris Shirelle Riley, 39, is charged with breach of trust.
New Ventures is a Richland County information technology firm.
According to an arrest warrant, between June of 2011 and 2013, the firm was under contract to take money from the state for purchases from vendors. By contract, the company was supposed to pass that money on to the vendors within three days. However, the warrant sates that the money she took intentionally wasn't passed on to the companies as promised.
The warrant doesn't say what happened to the money. The total money that wasn't delivered is more than $10,000.
The problem was revealed after an audit by the South Carolina Budget and Control Board.
Riley was arrested Friday. The case will be prosecuted by attorney general's office.
