What
is Podcasting?
Podcasting
is downloading a file to be viewed or listened
to at the users discrecition. These files can
be put onto portable devices such as iPods™ ,
PDA’s or .mp3 players. You don’t
have to have an iPod™ to use podcasts.
Podcasts
come in two basic formats. The first podcasts were audio
only. These are typically mp3 files. Since Apple™ introduced
the Video iPod many video podcasts, commonly referred to
as vodcasts, have begun to pop up. Anything from complete
tv episodes to video blogs and short movies are being vodcast
world wide.

We would
like to know what types of podcasts interest you. Please
write us at webmaster@wltx.com and
share with what you would be interested in seeing as a
podcast.
What
if I don't have an iPod™?
Podcasting
is not just for iPods™ ! If you have a portable device
such as an .mp3 player or PDA you can use audio podcasts.
Audio podcasts play on most mp3 players and can be downloaded
without the use of a Podcasting software.
The video
podcasts for iPods™ do not natively work on most Windows™ enabled
mobile devices or computers. We have made special podcasts
for these devices. Many PDAs, cell phones and portable music
players are now capable of watching video.
Even if you have no mobile device, you can still subscribe to a podcast and listen/watch it from your computer.
What
is Podcasting Software and why do I need it?
Podcasting
software allows you to subscribe to a podcast and transfer
the podcast to your portable device.
Many
Podcasts are free of charge just as the Podcast software
is free of charge. Once you download and install the Podcast
program, you tell it which podcasts you are interested
in downloading by entering the address of the podcast.
The program then checks the websites
you have told it to monitor and lets you know when
new podcasts are available. You can then download
them and take them with you. More on Podcasting
