The fourth annual 8K in 8 Days campaign held its final event Friday evening with members of the USC basketball team welcoming athletes from Special Olympics to the Carolina Coliseum practice facility.
The Gamecocks showed the visitors part of their routine including stretching and lay-up drills. The evening concluded with a group picture and autographs.
"It was fun," said USC forward Chris Silva.
"Having the kids out here with the players, spending time together, having a bit of a workout, it was fun to have them here."
The 8K in 8 Days effort has been a community outreach effort by the Gamecocks to reach 8,000 fans in eight days. Earlier this week, the team spent time at the Dorn VA Medical Center and entertained area kids from Columbia Parks and Recreation.
"It was just a lot of fun this week," said USC guard Tommy Corchiani.
"I enjoyed it, especially tonight. I thought Special Olympics was a lot of fun."
