Other Players of the Week
(WLTX) - Megan Kunkle is the captain of the Lakewood soccer team. She was also captain of the Gators volleyball team. She has earned the Coach's Award and All-Region honors.
(WLTX) - Sarah Moseley is the starting pitcher on the Newberry softball team. She has earned All-Region honors two years running. Sarah was also a member of the Bulldogs' swim team and qualified for the state swim meet.
Shawanda Hanton and Erika Sumpter, both players for the Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School girls baskeball team, are co-News19 Players of the Week.
Camden (WLTX) Evrik Gary captained the Camden basketball team that captured the 3-A state championship. It was the Bulldogs' first title since 1958.
Josh Sullivan is a captain on the Sumter wrestling team. He's ranked third in state, number one in lower state, and he has been selected to compete in the North-South All-Star matches.
(WLTX) -- Morgan Stroman is a co-captain on the Lower Richland basketball team. She has helped lead the Diamond Hornets, coached by her mom, Debbie Stroman to three consecutive state championships.
(WLTX) -- David Hoppe is the captain of the Lexington basketball team and a National Honor Society member who ranks fourth in the senior class with a 5.02 GPA. David also represented his school at Palmetto Boy's State.
Ryan Norris is a captain on the Keenan basketball team. He made All-State and was named MVP and Region Player of the Year as a junior.
Colby Jones is a man for all seasons at Lugoff-Elgin High School. A standout on the Demons' football team in the fall, he now has his sights set on qualifying for state in wrestling this winter, and in the spring he looks forward to probably his favorite sport -- soccer.
Lexington (WLTX) - Jessika Blankenship is a four-year starrter on the White Knoll basketball team who has earned MVP and All-Region honors. A leader on and off the court, Jessika is in her third year as team captain for the Lady Timberwolves and she is also a West Point Leadership Award winner. She also attended Palmetto Girl's State.
(WLTX) - Amanda Malatek has been playing varsity tennis since she was in 7th grade. As an 8th-grader, she played number one singles and earned MVP honors. This fall she was captain of her Blythewood team and was named Region Player of the Year.
(WLTX) - Meagan Kirkley has been a varsity competitive cheerleader for four years and this year, she helped lead her Lugoff-Elgin team to the state finals for the first time in school history.
(WLTX) - William Craig has been a member of the Lexington swimming and track teams the past two years. He has earned All-Region honors in swimming and qualified for state meets in both sports.
Fairfield County (WLTX) Cameron Pearson is a captain on the Fairfield Central football team. He also wrestles for the Griffin.
Richland County (WLTX) - Jameaka Hamilton is a co-captain on the Spring Valley tennis team. She's also a Student Council representative and says learning how to be a good leader has come naturally.
Columbia (WLTX) - Lauren Teague has been playing tennis and running track for A.C. Flora since she was a freshman. She has earned All-Area and All-Region honors in tennis and qualified for state in the 1600 and 4 x 800. Lauren is also a team captain in both sports.
Sumter County (WLTX) - Treginald Wilson has been the starting quarterback and a team captain on the Crestwood football team since his sophomore year. He has made the All-Area team each of the past two seasons. Treginald is also a captain on the Knights' basketball and track teams and made All-State in track.
Lexington County (WLTX) - D.J. Monroe is the captain of the Dutch Fork football team. He earned All-Region honors last year as a junior.
(WLTX) - Kaileen Yeh is the captain of the Dreher tennis team. She plays number one singles for the Blue Devils and earned All-Region honors last year as a junior. Kaileen is also president of the Dreher National Honor Society and ranks number one in the senior class with a 5.1 GPA.
