(WLTX) --- Talk of Clemson potentially moving to the Big 12 has gotten to the point to where the school's Board of Trustees will meet Thursday to discuss conference reallignment and also gauge the opinions of board members on Clemson potentially changing conferences.

The Big 12 has been in the news of late with its agreement to send its champion to meet the SEC champion in a New Year's Day bowl game.

The Big 12 is also a football-first conference, unlike the ACC which has always been known as a basketball conference with the likes of North Carolina and Duke competing annually for national championships.

However, in recent years, the ACC's reputation nationally on the football field has taken a hit. Clemson athletics director Terry Don Phillips says league officials are determined to improve that area in the ACC. Phillips also says that Clemson, like any other school, will do what is in its best interest.
