Pelion, SC (WLTX) --- Pelion's Cody Proveaux will receive his high school diploma Saturday. On Sunday, he and his family will depart for Memphis on a trip that will begin as a vacation, but turn into a business trip.
The 18-year-old Proveaux earned a sponsor's exemption to next week's FedEx St. Jude Classic by being named the Rolex Junior Player of the Year last November.
The Clemson signee says his first goal is to make the cut, but adds he has allowed himself to think about what it would be like to be in contention in Sunday's final round.
But before that happens, Cody will be putting in a lot of practice time. He says he will play 18 holes on Monday, which will be his first look in person at the TPC Southwind. He has watched the tournament on television, so he has an idea of what he will be facing.
He will follow Monday's routine with an 18-hole practice round on Tuesday and Wednesday. That is a lot of time to be on the course even before the tournament begins, but Cody says he needs that much time so he can get as much knowledge about the course as possible.
If Cody does make the cut, he could very well have the CBS team of Nantz and Faldo telling the Cody Proveaux story to the entire country.
