Charleston, SC (WLTX) -- A new community oriented adult football team in Charleston has put out the call for athletes to try out Saturday.
The Charleston Man Of War are holding an open combine for any male athletes over 18 from South Carolina.
The event will be held in downtown Charleston at Stoney Field, 300 Fishburn Street, and registration is open from 8:00-9:30am Saturday.
The purpose of the event is to test athletes from around the state and build the Charleston Man of War football team.
SEC 2008 Coach of the Year, Bobby Johnson, NFL Hall of Famer, Joe Delameilleure, and staff will evaluate the talent from the combine and invite the best to try out for the team at a later date.
The goal of The Charleston Man Of War is to create a "grass-roots" football team, staffed by volunteers, and supporting the area community through charitable donations, all while competing in American style Football on a national and international level.
The Charleston Man Of War is currently scheduled to play teams from Washington, DC, New Jersey, Spain, and Beijing.
To participate in the combine, The Charleston Man Of War request you bring $15 ($10 registration fee and $5 donation to Shaw Community Center) cash or check made payable to Charleston Man of War.
