Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- Heathwood Hall's gymnasium will be hosting top-level talent every Sunday and Thursday evening until August 12 as part of the inaugural South Carolina Pro-Am.
The tournament is part of an NCAA-sanctioned summer league under the direction of Commissioner Carey Rich, a former USC point guard who co-hosts a sports talk show on Sports Radio 560 The Team.
Rich has brought a handful of top-flight basketball players and blended them with current college players and a host of players who are playing professionally overseas.
Familiar names in the league include former Gamecocks Devan Downey and Carlos Powell, along with 10 of the current USC players.
Due to NCAA rules, only two teammates are allowed on one team, so five teams are featuring two players who will be playing under Frank Martin later this year.
