(WLTX) --- Daniel Rodriguez was just added to the Clemson football roster this week but he can make the case for being the Tigers' most seasoned veteran.

Rodriguez is a 24-year-old military veteran who served a year and a half in Iraq and a year in Afghanistan.

His dream has been to play college football and the Tigers have given him that opportunity. The walk-on will attend Clemson on the GI bill and have three years of eligibility remaining.

After enduring numerous challenges in his military training and then actually being in the middle of combat - with life and death results - Rodriguez says he will draw on those experiences as he makes this transition. \

He will be playing football for the first time since 2005 when he was a standout at Brook Point High School in Stafford, Va. Rodriguez will wear jersey number 83.
