(WLTX) --- Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said Wednesday that he doesn't expect right tackle Gifford to start in the season opener against Auburn.
Swinney did say Timothy could see some action against Auburn.
Timoth suffered a knee injury in practice last week and underwent surgery at the end of the week to repair the torn meniscus.
Swinney said Joe or Shaq Anthony could replace Timothy, but center Dalton could also move outside to right tackle if needed.
Freeman, a former Pelion standout, has trained to play guard and tackle. He is currently on the watch list for the Rimington Award which is given to the nation's top center.
