Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- In the final open practice of the preseason, USC held an 85-play scrimmage in front of a good crowd at Williams-Brice Stadium Wednesday night.

From here on out, workouts will be closed as the team prepares for its season opener August 30 at Vanderbilt.

"It was a good scrimmage, because nobody got seriously hurt," said head coach Steve Spurrier.

"We had one slight concussion to (redshirt freshman cornerback) Ahmad Christian, but I think he'll be all right. We got 85 plays in - a lot of good plays by the offense, some bad plays. A lot of good plays by the defense and (some) not so good plays by them also. The punters hit some good ones. The kickers hit some good ones and some bad ones. It was just practice. Hopefully we can learn from it and get better."
