Columbia, SC --- South Carolina earned goals from Rae Wilson and Coryn Bajema to defeat Mercer, 2-0 in the 2012 home opener at Stone Stadium Thursday night
It was the first win of the season for USC.
Andie Romness, Courtney Angotti-Smith and Gabrielle Gilbert registered assists for South Carolina.
The first goal of 2012 was scored in the first half as Andie Romness executed the corner kick with Rae Wilson heading the ball into the net for a 1-0 USC lead.
In the second half, Courtney Angott-Smith sent the ball across the mouth of the net where Coryn Bajema delivered a forceful header into the net for the final scoring of the match.
Carolina returns to action Sunday afternoon against Jacksonville at Stone Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
