USC Volleyball Defeats Clemson 3-0

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The third largest crowd in the 16-year history of the Volleyball Competition Facility watched USC defeat Clemson 3-0 Friday evening on day one of the Carolina Clash.

The Gamecocks improved to 9-0, while Clemson fel to 6-2. The win snapped a two-game losing streak to the Lady Tigers. 

Senior setter Taylor Bruns posted 10 kills without an attacking error and 30 assists in the triumph over the archrival Tigers.

Hitting .588, Bruns was the only Gamecock to best Juliet Thévenin's .500 mark, as she led all players with 15 kills.

Sophomore outside hitter Bethanie Thomas added seven kills and 12 digs. Freshman middle blocker Darian Dozier posted a season-best six blocks, including two solo stuffs, while freshman outside hitter Jenna Allen added eight digs.

Junior libero Paige Wheeler had nine digs, and Bruns finished with seven, three shy of a triple-double.

Moneshia Simmons tallied 14 kills to lead Clemson, while Sandra Adeleye and Kristin Faust both had 10 kills. Natalie Patzin led all players with 16 digs, with Faust adding 13 and Kamryn Sherman 10 to go with 27 assists. Adeleye hit .562 on the night and led the Tigers with three blocks.
