Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- Ray Tanner is settling in nicely in his new role as USC athletics director.
The man who spent 16 seasons as Carolina's head baseball coach has gone from being the CEO of one sport to 20.
Case in point - in Tuesday night's USC-Clemson soccer match at Stone Stadium, Tanner made a visit to the lockerroom to personally congratulate head soccer coach Mark Berson and his staff. Tanner says when he was the baseball coach, he would have just sent a text message.
Tanner says he has always kept up with the other sports because the people leading those programs were his colleagues and he wanted them to succeed. Now that he has taken over the entire athletic program, that philosophy has remained intact.
