Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The South Carolina Gamecocks are ranked seventh in the first Bowl Championship Series (BCS) rankings.
The survey was released Sunday night.
USC (6-1) is coming off a 23-21 loss to LSU Saturday. Prior to the setback, South Carolina was number 3 in the polls, but now stand at ninth in the Associated Press and eighth in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches.
The Gamecocks will have a chance to get right back in the national title race, though, when they play Florida this coming Saturday in Gainesville. The Gators are ranked second in the BCS, and a win would likely propel USC back up the charts.
The USC-Florida game will be played on CBS/WLTX at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Clemson is ranked nineteenth in the BCS. They were idle this past weekend.
