Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Gamecock star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has been named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award.

The Maxwell goes to top college football player in America. It's been awarded since 1935.

The watch list originally listed 65 players, but that list has since been whittled down to the final seven, which includes Clowney.

Just a sophomore, Clowney has lived up to his hype he received coming out of high school, turning into one of the most productive lineman in America. So far this season, he's had 36 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

Clowney's also been named to the Walter Camp, Bednarik, Nagurski, Hendricks, and Lombardi watch lists.
