Columbia, SC (WLTX) - USC officials confirmed Thursday that running back Marcus Lattimore will not need additional surgery on his injured knee.

Lattimore had surgery on his right knee last week in Birmingham, Alabama, team physician Dr. Jeff Guy reports. Doctors went in and repaired several ligaments. He was then taken back to Columbia and was released from the hospital last Monday.

At this time, medical staff feel Lattimore doesn't require further procedures. Guy says Lattimore has already begun the rehabilitation process.

Lattimore injured his knee during the first half of last month's Tennessee game. The junior suffered a dislocation to the knee as well as the ligament damage.

Doctors remain hopeful that Lattimore can resume his football career.

During this weekend's game versus Arkansas, USC will unveil ramp signage at Williams-Brice Stadium recognizing Lattimore for setting the school's career rushing touchdown record (38). Originally, USC officials thought Lattimore could attend, but doctors later agreed that it wasn't in Lattimore's best interest to be at the game.

For his career, Lattimore has 2,677 yards, which is the sixth most in school history. He has 41 total touchdowns.
