USC assistant basketball coach Nikki McCray
Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- When Dawn Staley tweeted early Saturday morning that there was a new addition to the USC women's basketball family, that also signaled some changes for the time being for that program.
Staley's tweet Saturday announced that assistant coach Nikki McCray and her husband Thomas had welcomed a baby boy named Thomas Nikson into the world.
While McCray is on maternity leave, Staley has rearranged some duties amongs the staff. Director of Operations Cynthia Jordan will slide into an assistant's role for Staley who has said half-jokingly that she wouldn't be surprised to see McCray return to the bench earlier than expected - as in this Sunday.
McCray is former All-American at Tennessee. In fact, her junior and senior seasons saw her rack up All-America and SEC Player of the Year Honors.
A two-time Olympic gold medal winner, McCray enjoyed an 11-year professional career before moving into coaching.
