Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- On April 3rd one Midlands high school basketball player will be on the court in the United Center in Chicago, participating in the 36th Annual McDonald's All American Girls basketball game.

Alaina Coates, 6'4" Center from Dutch Fork High & future USC Gamecock, has been selected as one of the nation's top ranked prep school all-stars.

Teams are chosen for the All American Boys and All American Girls teams by a selection committee that this year went through over 800 nominees.

"It's becoming a tradition for the top high school basketball stars to gather in Chicago for the McDonald's All American Games," said Douglas Freeland, director of the McDonald's All American Games.

"These players are the 'heirs apparent' to the basketball royalty throne, and we look forward to hosting them in the Windy City for this can't miss event."

Past All American Team members include Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Candace Parker, and more.

This year the McDonald's All American Girls game will air on ESPNU live at 7PM Eastern on April 3rd.
