Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Baseball legend Hank Aaron will be in Columbia to help kick off the last season for the Columbia Blowfish.
Wednesday, Blowfish General Manager Bill Shanahan confirmed Aaron will be at the team's game scheduled for May 29th at 7:05 p.m. He'll throw out the first pitch as well.
Aaron, who hit 755 home runs in his Hall of Fame career, played against Columbia during his final minor league game. At the time, Aaron was a member of the Jacksonville Braves in the South Atlantic League.
Shanahan reached out to Aaron, who agreed to the appearance.
This will be the final season for the Blowfish at Capital City Stadium. After this season, the facility will be torn down to make way for a new development.
