Columbia, SC --- USC's Michael Carrera has been named to the SEC All-Freshman Team, the first Gamecock to earn this honor since Bruce Ellington in 2011.
Carrera is third on the team in scoring (10.0 ppg) and leads in rebounding (7.3 rpg).
The native of Venezuela had five double-doubles on the year and 12 games where he scored in double figures.
In other news, USC head coach Frank Martin will serve as an assistant in the USA Basketball World University Games Team. Davidson's Bob McKillop will be the head coach with Martin and Michigan head coach John Beilein serving as assistants.
