Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- For the first time in seven years and the first time in her three years as head coach, South Carolina softball will head to the SEC tournament under the leadership of Beverly Smith.
After upsetting second-ranked Florida Saturday in the final regular season game, the Gamecocks earned the tenth seed in the conference tournament. This is the first postseason berth for the program since 2007.
South Carolina finished the regular season 31-22 overall, 8-16 in the SEC. They will take on seventh-seeded Kentucky Wednesday. The winner will play second-seeded Tennessee Thursday.
