(WLTX) --- Tommy Gainey started the day three shots off the lead at the Travelers Championship with the goal of making a move up the leaderboard and put himself in position for at least a second top 10 finish of 2013.
But Gainey could never get in a rythym and ended his round at 2-over par, minus-5 for the tournament.
Still, it was good enough for a tie for 18th, his second-best finish on the Tour in 2013.
The Bishopville native had missed 13 of 20 cuts coming in and had just one top 10 finish. He will leave the Hartford era with a check for $76,680.
Ken Duke, a 44-year-old journeyman, won the Travelers Championship on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff with Chris Stround. It is the first PGA Tour win for Duke.
