Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- Even with NFL training camp about to begin, former Gamecock Marcus Lattimore was back in Columbia Saturday.
Lattimore hosted a football camp AC Flora High School.
The Byrnes High School graduate seemed to enjoy the time he spent with the youngsters.
"I was in the same shoes 10...15 years ago," Lattimore said. "It's just a great feeling to be out here to teach them the fundamentals and about life."
Since injuring his knee in October of 2012, many wondered if Lattimore would be be physically ready for the NFL. As time has passed, he's shown that he's regained strength in the surgically-repaired right knee.
"Rehab has been going good," he added. "That's the main thing, getting stronger and more confidence."
NFL training camps begin in August and it is not a foregone conclusion whether Lattimore will participate. He will be leaving up to the 49ers training staff.
"I still have no clue [if I'll participate]," he said. "If I'm called upon, I'll be ready. I know that."
