CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A bit of history is being made at the Country Club of Charleston.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (http://bit.ly/12UiQNI ) that the youngest golfer ever to play in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship is teeing off this week.
Lucy Li is 10 years, 10 months and 4 days old. She is the youngest participant to play in the event dating to 1895. Until now, the youngest player was Latanna Stone, who competed in last year's amateur at the age of 10 years, 11 months and 2 days.
A total of 156 golfers are playing the first 36 holes Monday and Tuesday. The top 64 advance to match play later in the week.
