(WLTX) --- In September of 1993, USC travelled to Georgia to face the 14th-ranked Bulldogs and pulled off one of the most historic and dramatic wins in the history of the program.
USC trailed 21-17 with 17 seconds left following a timeout. Brandon Bennett was stopped for no gain at the one but with two seconds left in the game, Bennett's second attempt following the timeout saw him dive into the end zone, giving the Gamecocks a 23-21 win.
Unfortunately, the Gamecocks would not have many more wins that season, as they finished 4-7 and signaled the end of the Sparky Woods era in Columbia. However, for that one afternoon in Samford Stadium, the Gamecocks overachieved and shocked the crowd at Sanford Stadium.
The series resumes this Saturday as Carolina goes for its fourth straight win over the Bulldogs.
