ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier has fond memories of the state of Florida.
He marked his return to college football in 2005 with a win against UCF, which at that time was a largely unknown gridiron program.
But at 3-0 and coming off a win over Penn State, the Knights are hoping to score a signature win against Spurrier's 12th-ranked Gamecocks (2-1). The Knights are trying to move to 4-0 for the first time since 1988 and Saturday's game is their first sellout since 2011.
UCF will be fighting a 1-24 history all-time against ranked teams and 2-14 record opposite Southeastern Conference foes.
Making the challenge even tougher will be South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw, who is playing his best football and has yet to throw an interception.
