NEWBERRY - The Newberry Wolves racked up a season-high 582 yards of offense and rolled to a 44-9 Homecoming victory over the visiting Tusculum Pioneers in South Atlantic Conference action at Setzler Field on Saturday evening.
With the win, Newberry moves to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in SAC play. This is just the second time in school history the Wolves have started the season with six straight wins. Tusculum falls to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the league.
The Wolves earned 29 first downs and put up a season-best 397 yards on the ground.
Quarterback W.T. Murden had his career long plays in both rushing and passing in the game. He completed 9-of-14 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns to Corey Washington
He also carried the ball 12 times for 87 yards and a 46-yard score. Freshman running back Romelo Doctor carried the ball nine times for 104 yards and a 68-yard touchdown.
