CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - Michael Weimer rushed for 132 yards and Wofford got a late goal-line stand to hold off Western Carolina for a 21-17 win Saturday.

Tony Mitchell ran for one score and passed for another to give Western Carolina (1-7, 0-4 Southern) the 17-7 halftime lead.

Wofford (5-2, 4-0) responded when Weimer ripped off an 83-yard run to open the second half. Octavius Harden ran for a 16 yard score to give the Terriers the 21-17 lead.

Mitchell drove Western Carolina 86 yards late in the fourth, but Wofford stopped the Mitchell's fourth-and-2 run, injuring him in the process.

After a three-and-out, Western Carolina got the ball back on its own 38 with 33.2 seconds. Backup quarterback Eddie Sullivan completed two passes to get down to the Wofford 5. Wofford's defense once again rose to the occasion, forcing two incompletions.

The loss extended Western Carolina's conference losing streak to 26 games.
