Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Quarterbacks from rival schools are competing against each other as both Connor Shaw (South Carolina) and Tajh Boyd (Clemson) have been named semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien Award.
Shaw has led the Gamecocks to a 7-2 record through nine games this season. He's been nearly perfect, throwing 18 touchdowns with just one interception. After Saturday's win over Mississippi State, Shaw moved to second all-time in the career wins category behind Todd Ellis. He also moved up to second on the school's list for passing touchdowns behind Steve Tanneyhill.
Boyd has had similiar success with his Clemson Tigers. After four touchdowns Saturday at Virginia, Boyd became the ACC's career leader in passing touchdowns. So far through the season, he has 20 touchdowns with six interceptions.
The Davey O'Brien Award is given to the nation's top quarterback.
