SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Northwestern quarterback Mason Rudolph threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Gaffney's Shaq Davidson with 16 seconds left in the game to lift South Carolina to a 28-23 victory over North Carolina at the Shrine Bowl all-star game Saturday.
Rudolph completed 15 of his 22 passes and threw three touchdowns to win the offensive MVP for South Carolina. Rudolph plans to attend Oklahoma State.
North Carolina's Elija Hood ran for three second-half touchdowns. The University of North Carolina commit gained 99 yards on 23 carries and was his team's offensive MVP.
South Carolina led 14-0 at the half, but Hood's 6-yard TD with less than two minutes left put North Carolina up 23-21.
Rudolph then led South Carolina on a 10-play 68-yard drive for the winning score.
Daniel linebacker Solomon Brown was South Carolina's defensive MVP, while Greensboro Dudley safety Emmanuel Moseley was North Carolina's defensive MVP.
