(WLTX) --- Clemson basketball coach Brad Brownell says his the turnaround for his team in the Duke win came when the players realized the game would have to be won with defense.
Brownell says his trademark has always been defense and that effort Saturday was a big reason by the Tigers upset the nationally-ranked Blue Devils.
The fourth-year coach even described his team as "three yards and a cloud of dust" in the mold of those Danny Ford teams at Clemson.
Ford became an immediate icon at Clemson by winning the 1981 National Championship and his teams were known for playing tough, hard-nosed defense and emphasizing a physical running game.
Brownell says his players are of that same mold where the emphasis is on scoring defense - not scoring.
