River Bluff will host "The Battle at the Bluff" in the opening weekend of the 2014 high school football season
Lexington, SC (WLTX) --- The 2014 high school football season is not on most people's radar, but at River Bluff High School, the Gators will kick off their first full year of varsity competition with a two-day event.
"The Battle at the Bluff" will feature five football games over the Friday and Saturday of week zero.
Head coach David Bennett has seen other schools in the state have successful attempts at hosting a multi-game event and wanted his school to get into that game.
The Friday schedule is Cardinal Newman vs Pelion at 5:00 pm, followed by Dutch Fork and Greenwood. The Silver Foxes of Dutch Fork captured the 4A Division I state champion last season, so this will be their first game since that win in December over Sumter.
The Saturday schedule starts with Gilbert and Aynor at 2:30, followed by White Knoll and Fort Mill.
The final game of the weekend will feature the host River Bluff Gators facing Westwood.
River Bluff will be playing a full varsity schedule in 2014 after competing as a junior varsity program with a handful of varsity games on its schedule.
