The Carolina Panthers ruled out quarterback Cam Newton for Monday night's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Newton, the league's MVP last season, suffered a concussion last Sunday on a helmet-to-helmet hit from Atlanta Falcons linebacker Deion Jones.
Newton hasn't spoken to the media since then, when he entered NFL's concussion protocol. He hasn't made it outside to watch any practices, either.
Derek Anderson is likely to start at quarterback. He is 2-0 as the Panthers' starter, with both wins coming against Tampa Bay in 2014.
