When Clemson and South Carolina State square off Saturday in Death Valley, it will give Dabo Swinney a chance to catch up with someone who he respects and admires a great deal.
"Always talk about Buddy Pough, one of my favorite people," Swinney said.
"His son works here in the compliance office and does a great job."
Clemson will be heavily favored in this contest but Swinney has scouted the Bulldogs and he sees some talent on that roster.
"This is a football team like most football teams out there, they've got some dudes," Swinney said.
"They've got some players."
The question for Pough is will his "dudes" be enough to handle "Dabo's Dudes" who have had their struggles in the first two games of 2016.
"You know, I know it doesn't help for them to need any other kind of real reason to get after us, I can tell you that," said Pough.
"They've got the general ability to come out there and knock us crazy if they decide to be that way. But at the same time, we want them to come out and go on through the motions and get on out of there which would be the best case scenario for us. But right now, I'm sure we have their full attention."
The last meeting between the Tigers and Bulldogs was in 2014 when Clemson won 73-7.
