(WLTX, AP, USA TODAY) - South Carolina is number 10 in both the USA Today Coaches' and Associated Press poll and Clemson is number 12 in the latest USA TODAY Coaches' and number 11 in the Associated Press poll.

USC defeated Tennessee Saturday night in Knoxville to raise their record to 7-1. The team remains in control in the SEC Eastern Division over Georgia, which the Gamecocks defeated earlier this year. If USC wins its remaining conference games against Arkansas and Florida, they will go to the SEC Championship game for the second straight year.

Clemson is coming off a disappointing loss to Georgia Tech which gave the Tigers their first loss of the season. Like Carolina, Clemson controls its own destiny, and can win the Atlantic Division of the ACC by beating Wake Forest.

Overall, LSU is still number one in the coaches' poll, which is a component of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) rankings. Alabama is number two, and will face LSU this Saturday in a showdown that could decide the SEC's Western Division.

Stanford is three after a triple overtime win over Southern Cal, followed by Oklahoma State and Boise State.

Of the one-loss teams hoping mistakes might allow them to sneak into the championship race again, Oregon is best positioned right now at number six.
