San Diego, California (Sports Network) - Stephan Hick led four scorers in
double figures with 25 points as the Cal State Northridge Matadors took down
the San Diego Toreros, 74-71, as part of the NUCDF Challenge the Jenny Craig
Pavilion.
Hicks also had eight rebound and seven steals for Cal State Northridge (3-0).
Stephen Maxwell had 14 points, Tre Hale-Edmerson had a double-double of 11
points and 11 rebounds and Josh Greene also added 11 points.
Johnny Dee scored 16 points and Christopher Anderson finished with 15 for
San Diego (2-1). John Sinis and Jito Kok each added 10 off the bench.
After a 14-of-34 effort from the floor in the first 20 minutes, the Matadors
were able to take a two-point lead (36-34) at the half.
The Matadors then heated up to an even 50.0 percent shooting in the second
frame and also outscored the Toreros 16-9 from the free throw line.
Cal State Northridge will take on Siena in the next matchup of the event
while San Diego will battle Tulsa.
