Murray, KY (Sports Network) - Isaiah Canaan recorded a game-high 30 points as
the Murray State Racers defeated the Old Dominion Monarchs, 79-72, in non-
conference action at the CFSB Center.
Canaan was 6-of-11 from three-point range for the Racers (4-1) en route to a
season-high point total. He was joined in double-figure scoring by Brandon
Garrett with 13 points and Ed Daniel with 15 points and 15 rebounds for his
third-straight double-double.
For ODU (1-5), Donte Hill scored 16 points to go with eight rebounds. DeShawn
Painter recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Deion Clark
contributed 12 points off the bench in the setback.
Murray State jumped out to a 40-35 halftime advantage thanks to 46.8 percent
shooting in the opening 20 minutes.
The Racers made progress in the second half, shooting 52 percent from the
floor, including 54.6 percent from three-point range (6-of-11), to hang on for
the win.
Murray State shot an impressive 11-of-26 from beyond the arc, while holding
the visiting Monarchs to a mere 7-of-23 long range.
