Waco, TX (Sports Network) - All five starters scored in double figures for
Northwestern as the Wildcats held on for a 74-70 win on the road over the
Baylor Bears at the Ferrell Center,
Drew Crawford was the top scorer for Northwestern (7-2) with 19 points. Reggie
Hearn had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, Dave Sobolewski netted
13 points, Jared Swopshire put in 12 and Alex Olah had 10 points to go with
six assists.
Pierre Jackson scored 18 points and dished out six assists and A.J. Walton
chipped in 11 points for Baylor (5-3).
Both teams shot well in the first half with Baylor hitting 13-of-24 shot
attempts while Northwestern put in 15-of-30 of its field goal attempts to earn
a 35-32 lead at intermission.
The Wildcats led by as many as 18 points in the second half but had that lead
trimmed to two in the final minute. However Crawford hit a pair of free throws
to put the game out of reach.
Baylor lost despite outscoring Northwestern 19-4 on points off turnovers. The
Wildcats had a sizable 37-24 edge on the boards.
