Cincannti, OH (Sports Network) - Semaj Christon scored 18 points as the Xavier
Musketeers defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes, 62-55, in non-conference
action Cintas Center.
Brad Redford chipped in 14 points off the bench for Xavier (7-2), while Dee
Davis tallied 10 points and four assists. The Musketeers have won four of
their past five games.
For Kent State (5-5), Melvin Tabb led all scorers with 20 points on 9-of-10
from the field while also adding 14 rebounds. Chris Evans had 10 points and
eight boards for the Flashes, who have lost three straight.
It was a defensive struggle in the first half, as Kent State shot just 30.8
percent from the field while Xavier was even worse at 20.8 percent. The
Flashes took a 20-18 advantage into intermission.
With the game tied at 33-33 with eleven and a half minutes to play, the
Musketeers ripped off a 12-0 to pull away.
Kent State shot just 4-of-24 from three-point range in the game, while Xavier
made 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.
