Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Kerron Johnson led all scorers with 17 points
as the Belmont Bruins defeated the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, 64-49, in
non-conference action at Curb Event Center.
Johnson shot 7-of-14 from the field and added six rebounds and five assists
for Belmont (7-2), which has won three of four. Ian Clark tallied 15 points
and four assists, and Blake Jenkins chipped in 11 points, seven boards, and
five blocks.
For Middle Tennessee (7-3), JT Sulton put up nine points and eight rebounds
from off the bench. The Blue Raiders shot just 28.6 percent from the floor on
the night.
Middle Tennessee held a lead for much of the first half, but Belmont ended the
frame on an 8-2 run to go into intermission up 30-26.
The Bruins kept the advantage for the entire second half, leading by as many
at 18 points.
Neither team shot well from three-point range. Belmont made 4-of-16 from
beyond the arc, while Middle Tennessee was just 3-of-16.
