Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Michael Harthun led five players in double
figures for Portland State as the Vikings took down the Sacramento State
Hornets, 87-69, in a Big Sky conference tilt at the Stott Center.
Harthun had 18 points, Aaron Moore added 16, Lateef McMullan finished with
14 to go with nine assists, Martin Whitmore netted 11 and Renado Parker
chipped in 10 more for Portland State (4-8, 2-3 Big Sky) which had lost
three straight.
John Dickson scored 16 points and Dylan Garrity and Konner Veteto each added
14 for Sacramento State (7-6, 2-3) which has lost three of its last four.
Portland State led 40-33 at the end of the first half after connecting on 15-
of-31 shots from the floor including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Sacramento
State also shot well hitting 13-of-25 shots.
In the second half the Vikings heated up to 65.4 percent shooting including
makes on 8-of-9 shots from beyond the arc as they pulled away to secure the
win.
The Vikings had a 19-6 edge ion points off turnovers while the Hornets had the
advantage in second chance points (19-8).
