Rochester, MI (Sports Network) - Travis Bader scored a career-high 47 points
as the Oakland Golden Grizzlies downed the IUPUI Jaguars, 89-71, in a Summit
League showdown at the Athletics Center O'Rena.
Bader's 47 points are the third-most all-time for the Golden Grizzlies (9-13,
4-4 Summit) and he set a program record for both 3-point baskets made and
attempted in a game by knocking down 11-of-18 from beyond the arc. Bader upped
his nation-leading 3-point total 94 and has drilled a trey in 42 straight
games, the longest active streak in the country. Corey Petros posted a double-
double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Oakland, while Duke Mondy chipped in
with 11 points.
For the Jaguars (6-17, 1-8), Sean Esposito led the way with 21 points, Donovan
Gibbs finished with 15 points and Greg Rice pulled down 10 rebounds. IUPUI has
now lost its last seven contests.
In the first half, Oakland hit on 48.3 percent of its field goal tries,
including 5-of-16 from 3-point range, as it took a 37-26 advantage into
intermission. IUPUI shot 42.9 percent from the field and kept the game close
by connecting on 5-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc.
The Golden Grizzlies were red-hot in the second half, draining 63 percent of
their shots from the floor, including 9-of-14 from 3-point range. The Jaguars
were equally accurate from the floor, making 62.1 percent of their field goal
attempts in the second half, although they were held to just 5-of-15 from 3-
point range. Oakland opened the half on a 25-11 run to take control of the
game. The Jaguars would get no closer than 11 the rest of the way, as the
Golden Grizzlies cruised to victory.
Oakland dominated on the boards, outrebounding IUPUI 37-18. The Golden
Grizzlies had the advantage on second chance points as well, 17-6.
