Bridgeport, CT (Sports Network) - Maurice Barrow hung up a double-double of 25
points and 10 rebounds to carry the Fairfield Stags to a 69-59 win over the
Rider Broncs in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Webster Bank
Arena.
Derek Needham added 15 points for Fairfield (13-10, 5-6 MAAC) which has won
three straight.
Daniel Stewart had 22 points and Jonathon Thompson chipped in 10 for Rider
(11-12, 6-5) which has lost three straight.
Although they shot just 37 percent from the floor in the opening period,
the Stags led 35-30 at the break by knocking down 13-of-15 shots from the
free-throw line.
In the second half the Stags heated up to 54.5 percent shooting which was
enough to hold off the Broncs who had just nine field goals in the period.
Fairfield forced 17 turnovers which it converted into 17 points. The Stags
also had a 17-8 edge in second chance points.
