Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Javon McCrea had 16 points and six rebounds to
help lift the Buffalo Bulls to a 59-54 win over the Northern Illinois Huskies
in Mid-American Conference play at Alumni Arena.
Tony Watson added 14 points and Auraum Nuiriankh recorded a double-double with
10 points and 10 boards for the Bulls (9-15, 4-6 MAC), winners of seven
straight in the head-to-head series.
Abdel Nader led the Huskies (5-17, 3-7) with 13 points, although he was the
team's only player in double figures.
NIU shot a healthy 61.1 percent from the floor (11-of-18) in the opening
frame, but the Bulls attempted nine more field goals (12-of-27) as they took a
31-27 lead into the break.
Both teams shot below 40 percent in the second stanza, although the Bulls had
a 12-7 scoring advantage at the foul line and they led by as many as 11 with
just over four minutes to play.
UB held a key 12-5 edge on the offensive glass for the game, which helped
yield a key 13-2 advantage in second-chance points.
